Gopi Prasannaa

Gopi Prasannaa represents India at Taiwan International Design Festival 2026

The celebrated publicity designer, whose work spans over 200 films, is one among the four Indian designers invited.

The Taiwan International Design Festival 2026 runs from September 24 to October 11, 2026. Its central idea is: ‘Taoyuan POV’ (Taoyuan: Point of View), a perspective that captures the city's intriguing duality - its historic, deep-rooted culture and its acceleration toward a hyper-digitalized future.

Eminent designers from across the world, hailing from automobile, graphic, product design and other fields have been invited to showcase their works on the theme. Among them is Gopi Prasannaa. The invitation is in recognition of his impressive work in Indian cinema. His promotional designs have introduced audiences to more than 200 films, including Aaranya Kaandam, Kaththi, Vikram Vedha, Super Deluxe, Ponniyin Selvan and Raaka.

Gopi viewed the central idea through an interesting prism: a Tamil take on Taoyuan. It was a poster conceived by a designer rooted in Tamil Nadu, India – a land whose maritime trade story with Taiwan predates recorded history. He captured Taoyuan’s past and present in one frame, reflecting the timeless bond between India and Taiwan. Festival organisers, curators, fellow participants and art enthusiasts have all responded with interest to Gopi’s work.

Some of the globally renowned participants in the festival include:

  • Eriko Esaka - Japanese design coordinator, international relations expert, and program director for the UNESCO City of Design Organizing Committee in Nagoya
  • Cha Kang-Heui – Chief Executive Officer, Seoul Design Foundation
  • Kunihiro Uchida – General Manager, Toyota Design, Toyota Motor Corporation
  • Tai Lee Siang – Deputy President and Chief Innovation & Enterprise Officer, Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)

For a designer who has spent his career giving films their first look, Taoyuan offered a different role: Gopi Prasannaa became the storyteller himself.
